This was a fairly short trip to Ribeauvillé in France.
I flew, on a brilliantly clear day, to Basel airport. The plan was that I would drive the short distance to Ribeauvillé, so my first stop was at the car rental desk.
The lady behind the desk typed on her computer for a while, explaining that she was checking to see where I would get the best price – was it with her, in France, or at the other end of the hall, which was Switzerland?
France won out, and I collected my car. The scenery in the area was stunning, the rows of vines remarkable. The village itself seemed very typically French, overlooked by Saint-Ulrich castle and the Chateau du Girsberg.
A beautiful area, and one I would love to spend some time exploring
